"Intercity - or what do the cities Basel and Cologne mean to me? both towns are in a certain way, birthplaces of my music ideas. Basel is the town where I live and where I wrote the music of this production. Cologne is the town of the WDR radio station where we played and recorded everything and where it has been broadcast from.
Harald Banter is the founder of the fantastic ensemble 4 plus 6 (four saxaphones and six rhythmn instruments) and he is one of the last real big band leaders who are not afraid to record orchestras in their complete sound, that means with as little overdubs as possible. And that way, composers and arrangers could finally be proud about living and dynamic sounding recordings. During more than ten years these sessions took place two or three times a year and the arrangers of 4 plus 6 received regular orders to present their musical ideas without any compromises towards commercial needs. For me this time was full of creativity. It is a great feeling to write and compose for an ensemble of such outstanding international levels and I was full of pleasure to hear the recordings in the studio together with those great artists.
Thanks to Professor Harald Banters interventions and thanks for the help of Brambus Records

Thomas Moeckel ist since the seventies a well demanded jazz studio artist and has released several of his own project, mainly also for the German radio stations NDR and WDR. He has been elected in the years 1999 and 2000 as Winner of Chrysler Jazz Polls. Thomas Moeckel plays guitar, trumpet, flugelhorn and is composer and arranger, celebrating the jubilee 30/50 this year. This means 30 years on stage and the 50th birthday. A very good reason to realize a very special project with the help of Swiss national radio DRS2, who had as open ears as the Brambus jazz family, for which Seasons is allready his third CD project. It unites the several groups with which Thomas Moeckel could have been heard during the last couple years, as trio, quartet or quintet, featuring several well respected Swiss artists such as Domenik Landolf, Günter Kühlwein, Christoph Mohler, Kalli Gerhards, Michael Chylewski, Jean Paul Brodbeck and Nick Liebmann. Seeing it from this perspective, Seasons unites highlights of four imaginary CDs, played with each of these formations. The project has been recorded by Radio DRS in Zurich and is a contemporary jazz document of high value.
nd the allowance of the WDR, this CD finally is reaching you."
