Die gemeinsamen musikalischen Ideen der Oltner Saxophonistin Fabienne Hoerni und des Lausanner Bassisten Jeanpierre Schaller führten im Jahre 2001 zur Gründung von SCORPIO ELECTRIC. Mit Marco Figini (Bern) und Christian Niederer (Zürich) fanden sich die idealen Partner für die Umsetzung der lancierten Ideen von Fabienne Hoerni und Jeanpierre Schaller.
Das Zusammentreffen zweier verschiedener Musikergenerationen bietet interessante musikalische Fusionsmöglichkeiten. Kompositorisch aus dem Electric-Jazz der 70er schöpfend, verbindet SCORPIO ELECTRIC das eigene Material mit Einflüssen des aktuellen Nu-Jazz. Pulsierende Grooves kombiniert mit Ambient Sounds bieten den Ausgangspunkt für Interplay und Improvisation.
Die Entwicklung eines individuellen Band-Sounds steht im Vordergrund bei der Arbeit von SCORPIO ELECTRIC. Das Bandrepertoire besteht hauptsächlich aus Eigenkompositionen, welche oft auch mit kollektiven Ideen erweitert werden.

The same musical ideas brought the saxophonplayer Fabienne Hoerni and the bassplayer Jeanpierre Schaller (known form his work with “No No Diet Bang” for brambus) in the year 2001 together and SCORPIO ELECTRIC was founded. With Marco Figini (guitar) and Christian Niederer (drums) they found the ideal partners to convert the ideas into live music and now and finally into recordings.
The meeting of two different generations of musicians offers interesting musical fusion possibilities. The compositions grew out of the electric-jazz of the 70’s and unite here with the band own materials and influences of Nu-Jazz. Pulsating grooves combine with ambient sounds and are the leaving platform for interplay and improvisation. The creation of an own bandsound is the main aim in the work of SCORPIO ELECTRIC, the repertoire of the band is mostly selfpenned and with collective ideas increased. There is one cover track on the album,
which is well worth to discover immediately.
