Neu im Brambus-Roster: Das “ERICH FISCHER QUINTETT”, bestehend aus:

Mit der CD “Lydia” erfüllt sich der Vibraphonist, Perkussionist, Komponist und Bandleader Erich Fischer einen schon lange gehegten Wunsch: sein “musikalisches Lebenswerk” in Sachen Jazz auf einer CD vorzustellen. Das Unternehmen ist geglückt und überzeugt sowohl spielerisch wie auch klanglich. Das „Erich Fischer Quintett“ gab während den Aufnahmen im Radio-Studio in Zürich sein Bestes, spielte die Stücke lebendig, leiden-schaftlich und dynamisch. Die Tonaufnehmen und die Mischung besorgte der bestausgewiesene Andy Neresheimer. Auch das von Thomas Blättler sorgfältig und edel gestaltete CD-Cover kann sich sehen lassen.
Die 13 Stücke, welche auf „Lydia“ vereint sind, entführen in die stilistisch vielfältige und abwechslungsreiche Welt des Jazz. „Jazz ist die Freiheit viele Formen zu haben“ – dieses Zitat von Duke Ellington ist sprichwörtlich Programm des Erich Fischer Quintetts. Phantasievolle Themen mal sparsam im Duo, mal aus dem vollen schöpfend, spannende Solis, mal leise und ruhig, mal ekstatisch brodelnd sind der Inhalt. Die musikalische Form überrascht in variablen Besetzungen, immer den weichen Sound des Vibraphons im Zentrum, ein Bass, der sich nicht scheut die Melodie zu übernehmen, ein Schlagzeug, das weit mehr als die rhythmische Grundlage bietet und darüber, mal fliegend, mal poltern, die Klangfarben der zwei Blasinstrumente, welche sich ausgezeichnet ergänzen. Daraus entsteht die packende Energie, der frische Spielwitz und die Leidenschaft, mit der das „Erich Fischer Quintett“ auf „Lydia“ überzeugt!
Die CD wird am 13. Februar im Jazzprogramm des nationalen Radio DRS2 ausführlich und mit Interview vorgestellt. Konzerte im Laufe des Jahres sind in Planung!

With the CD “Lydia” vibraphonist, percussionist, composer and bandleader Erik Fisher has fulfilled a long-held wish: to present his musical life’s work in the field of jazz on a single CD.
The recording surprises and inspires both by the playing and the overall atmosphere. The “Erich Fischer Quintet” give of their very best in this recording in the Radio-studio in Zürich, playing with sensitivity, dynamism and joie de vivre. Andy Neresheimer has taken great pains with the recording, mixing and production; and Thomas Blättler’s CD graphics are also absolutely right.
The thirteen pieces which comprise “Lydia” explore the many-sided, mutable world of jazz, “Jazz is the freedom to have many forms.” This quotation from Duke Ellington is the adopted saying of the Erich Fischer Quintet. Imaginative themes sometimes economically presented in duo, sometimes treated with the full tone palette, relaxed solos, sometimes quiet and laid back, sometimes bubbling and ecstatic, this is the material. The musical arrangements surprise with their variety, the gentle voice of the vibraphone always at the centre, a bass which never tries to subvert the melody, drums which provide just enough of the rhythmic foundation, sometimes airy, sometimes insistent, and the subtle colours provided by two brass-players harmonizing perfectly. This is the magical mix which produces the energy, wit and sympathy of the Erich Fischer Quintet’s “Lydia”.
The CD was given its first airplay on the Jazz programme of national radio DRS2, together with an interview. This was followed by a short Swiss tour.
