Kristi Bartleson is not new to Brambus as her first album, The Willow Tree, was introduced in 2001. That beautiful album was influenced by the Celtic tradition with the main focus on the virtuoso harp playing. Now, she has come out with a new cd, which stays true to these roots, but through the band formation of "reddesert", she transports this world-music into a whole new genre. Included in the talented band line up is musical magician Sandro Friedrich, whose past recordings include work with Andreas Vollenweider. Here he uses instruments from every corner of the world that evoke sounds from the north African desert to the dynamics of the legendary Jethro Tull. Included on the album are guests such as Dodo Hug or Efisio Contini (from "Acanto") who are already established popular names in Switzerland, and add a special touch to the album! The diversity of this new album is unique and is an energetic sound journey – a kind of stroll through various styles and musical colors. In the middle is Kristi Bartleson's harp performance, the two-part harmony vocals, as well as exotic instruments. The repertoire consists almost exclusively of original compositions and offers a range from soulful enchantment to powerful numbers with a rock touch. A strong and colorful sound, and yet a treat for almost any taste.

Kristi Bartleson is a new name in the brambus-family. Her debut is a wonderfull harp cd with spartanic and quiet arrangements, which lead to a tender and intensive soundworld. Six selfpenned compositions and four traditional american folksongs represent the wide and warm sound of her celtic harp. The arrangements add voices, saxophon, penny-whistle and even a flower-pot!

Kristi Bartleson was born in the mountains of Colorado, where she lived until attending the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Kristi was selected to perform with the Eastman Symphony in Carnegie Hall and for the Heidelberg Opera Festival in Germany. After graduating with honors from school, she played in the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and the Colorado Ballet as well as various classical chamber groups. Some of her other musical experiences include playing keyboard and backup vocals in a band, participating in a Hollywood motion picture, sevreal Broadway musicals including Evita and a Rockettes show and performing original and improvised harp and vocal music with a jazz dancer. Kristi began composing and arranging in 1995 and is now based in between celtic harp tradition and american folk songs. On the cd, musical guest like Kate Northrop, Sandro Friedrich (Acanto) and Annette Tillmann bring additional creative spices.
