Oggier drückt der Musik seinen Stempel auf, ohne seine Inspiration und Spontanität und jene seiner Mitmusiker in Frage zu stellen. Raw, rhythmic, ritual
The impressions and memories of two travels to Africa of the trumpet player and composer Adrien Oggier and his long lasting love for African music and for jazz are the starting point for the Adrien Oggier Ritual Orchestra and to this outstanding production. His self penned compositions are excellent for the special instrumentation of the group: cello, tp, sax, ebass and drums! With a lot of musical feeling, the artists of the ritual orchestra create a very unique and seductive sound. Driving melodies, lullaby sentiments and orchestral anthems are redesigned with great latitudes and explosive interplay.
Adrien Oggier – tp, flh, Perc, Comp – was born 1976 in Bern. He started to play trumpet in the village cooperative music group with the age of eight. 1996 he travelled for 12 months in western Africa (Mali, Burkina Faso and die Ivory Coast). He worked together with the piano player Jo Kaïat and played among others with Toumani Diabaté and Aziz Wonder. Between 2002 and 2006 he studied at the Lucerne Jazz school and founded shortly afterwards his first own quintett, the „Adrien Oggier Ritual Orchestra“. Besides this, he still plays with „The Felas“ (Afrobeat) and King Kora (Urban Griot Music).
